Frankfurt’s DAX 40 ended slightly lower on Tuesday, slipping to 24,988 after two straight sessions of gains, as investors adopted a cautious stance. Market focus remained on the ongoing earnings season and corporate updates on both sides of the Atlantic. At the same time, traders are looking ahead to US labor market and inflation data for January, due later this week, which are expected to offer clearer guidance on the Federal Reserve’s next policy moves.

At the individual stock level, Siemens Energy fell 3.8%, the weakest performer in the index, as investors took profits following Monday’s record high. The company is scheduled to report quarterly results on Wednesday, with analysts predicting a sharp increase in earnings. Allianz dropped 2.6%, in line with broader weakness among insurers in the US and Europe amid concerns about the implications of artificial intelligence for the sector.

On the upside, Symrise surged 6.2% after Goldman Sachs upgraded the stock as part of a more pro‑cyclical stance on European chemicals. Brenntag and BASF also gained strongly, advancing 5.2% and 4.6%, respectively.
